SNES News Nov. 27

Hello families,

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. See below for this week’s update.

Last week’s highlights include:

  • Student Self- Assessments – In preparation for this term’s learning update to be released, classes were working away at completing their self-reflections and goal settings. You may have already received this from your teacher or discussed it with your child at a recent parent meeting. These reflections have been very thoughtful, and I have been really impressed with the amount of self-awareness students have shown as they have considered their personal learning journeys. Way to go!
  • Literacy groups and rotations well underway! All our classes are well into supporting their literacy goals with small groups, rotations, and self-directed activities. In these groups, students  learn at a level most appropriate to them while also having independence in their activities and instruction in smaller groups. There is great learning going on in all our classes! Great work!
  • Outdoor Learning – classes continue to have some wonderful outdoor learning opportunities.  See the blog post here about some of these exciting adventures. https://southnelson.sd8.bc.ca/blog/outdoor-learning-snes

A few pieces of information/reminders for you:

  1. Learning Updates (formerly known as Report Cards) are going home today. They will be published on the MyEd BC parent portal. Families were sent information last week on how to access this platform, so please check your emails. Watch for an email to land in your inbox about how to access your child’s learning update.

Please let me know if you will be coming and need this service so I can let Rosemont know how many to expect.
