Digital Media Parent Workshop
Child minding will be available
Presented by: Scott Rothermel
We have an opportunity to help our children develop a strong digital citizenship foundation while reminding them that their digital footprint is a reflection of their real and online selves. We will also look at the impacts of video games.
Students will encounter situations that will challenge their independence, including cyberbullying (and more frequent – cyber-exclusion), the dangers of anonymity, privacy, and social media websites, and we need to be there to provide support and guidance during this critical period. Scott will focus on video game usage, screen time and all things parenting in a digital world.
Scott is the current Manager of Safe Schools & OHS is a district leadership position working directly to support safety with students in all schools. This role also engages with outside agencies such as the RCMP, Ministry of Children and Family Development and community health partners. He is also provincial trainer for ERASE BC program.
