T is for Terry storybook

Hello families!

I hope you had a great weekend of rest and replenishment now that the school year is well underway. We are looking forward to a great week ahead.

Some highlights from last week include:

  • Family Heritage projects – Students in Mrs. Bonikowsky’s Gr. ¾ class started family heritage projects. Thank you to families for your contribution and information about your child’s heritage. We all come from such diverse and interesting backgrounds.
  • Math challenges and facts practice – many classes are reviewing basic grade level numeracy concepts and focusing on skip counting, patterns, and geometry.
  • Gr. 5/6 students started a unit on Canadian government. They are learning about the levels of government and the function of democracy
  • Nelson Leafs volunteering – We are always so grateful for volunteers in our school, and the Nelson Leafs are one of our weekly volunteers. They help intermediate students with targeted math and literacy  activities.
  • Cross country running continues – We have a great group of students eager to start their days with running! They practice every Wednesday and Friday from 8-8:30am. Our students are showing great dedication to this!
  • Monday rundays! – These continue each Monday morning. Feel free to join us when you drop off your child(ren)! It’s such a great way to start our day and week.
  • Outdoor learning – Several classes have outdoor learning in full swing and are making weekly trips to the local forests and trails.

A few reminders for you:

  1. Terry Fox Run  – This Friday! Gr. K/1s will be running on the top field and Gr. 2-6s will head up to the Mountain Station rail trails for the run.
