Hello Families,

Happy June! Wow – it is hard to believe we are already at the end of the year and into the last few weeks of school. There are many activities happening each week this month and we look forward to ending the school year in a positive way.

See below for this week’s update.

Have a great week!

Last week’s highlights include:

  • Track and Field – Our intermediate students had a great showing at the SD8 district track and field meet. This was a great success! Way to go!
  • Stop Motion Arts Starts Project - The video projects are complete! For all the details and to watch some of the videos, read this blog post here.
  • Carboard Arcade game – This was such a fun event! Thanks to the Gr. 4/5’s for all their ingenuity and creativity. You can see a full blog post here
  • Gr. 5 Trafalgar Orientation – Our Gr. 5’s had their orientation to Trafalgar. This is a milestone event for them! We are excited for their success and progress to the middle school, but we will miss them next year!
  • LVR Dance Showcase – Several of our classes went to view the LVR Dance showcase at the Capitol Theatre. It was a great opportunity to learn about different art forms in dance and singing.
  • Gr. 2/3 Math rotations – Students learned different ways of approaching problem solving. By using their knowledge of math facts, they were able to rotate through various stations that presented open ended problems to solve.
  • Elder visit – Sinixt Elder, Rick Desautel visited our school and had the opportunity to meet with several classes. He shared about the seven sacred teachings.
  • Congratulations to Juna Dickinson for winning the Ripping Giraffe’s Colouring Contest!

A few pieces of information/reminders for you:

  1. Dressing appropriately – There are so many field trips going out. As always, please make sure your child is dressed for the weather and are prepared for the activities of the day.
  2. Extra snacks – With all the activities outdoors and in the community, students are using a lot of energy! Many students are asking for extra snacks throughout the day and have often eaten their lunch by recess. Consider sending along extra food to help fuel your child’s day!
  3. Go by Bike Week – This week is Go by Bike Week! We encourage students and families to ride their bikes to school. Just a reminder to please walk all bikes/wheels while on school property
  4. Lost and found! There are MANY items in lost and found. Please stop in and take what might belong to your family :)
