Animation and the Earth's Rotation

Image

The Grade 4/5's completed an Art Starts project where they were introduced to the magical world of stop-motion animation, and created a short animated film. The project combined curricular elements of space and the earth's rotation with stop-motion creation.

Artist Brian Lye was the artist in residence who facilitated the project and process.  The project consisted of four sessions of learning, play, and process based skill building.

The first two sessions introduced concepts of stop motion and provided students time to develop their skill and understanding.

The final two sessions focused on applying their new skills to create a short animation informed by their in-class learning about the Earth's rotation and revolution.
