Hello Families,

Welcome back from weekend!

See below for this week’s update.

Have a great week!

Last week’s highlights include:

  • Swimming  – Many classes were out swimming. Students are having a great time and are enjoying their time in the pool
  • Track and Field – Track and Field practice continued for intermediate students. They are looking forward to the upcoming district Track and Field meet this Friday, May 31
  • Carboard Arcade game building – The Gr. 4/5s were very busy building their arcade games in anticipation for this weeks event
  • 3D shape house building – The Gr. 2/3s are learning about 3D shapes. They completed a project where they had to build 3D shapes, then design and build a structure using all different shapes. There was some great creativity in these projects!
  • Animal research projects – Gr. 2/3s also completed writing a research project on an animal of their choice. Their research, reading and writing skills are growing in great ways!

A few pieces of information/reminders for you:

  1. Dressing appropriately – There are so many field trips going out. As always, please make sure your child is dressed for the weather and are prepared for the activities of the day.
  2. Extra snacks – With all the activities outdoors and in the community, students are using a lot of energy! Many students are asking for extra snacks throughout the day and have often eaten their lunch by recess. Consider sending along extra food to help fuel your child’s day!
  3. Go by Bike Week – Next week is Go by Bike Week! We encourage students and families to ride their bikes to school. Just a reminder to please walk all bikes/wheels while on school property

Family learning resources:

Track and field is a great opportunity for learning new skills, growing in gross motor coordination, improving balance, endurance and determination.

Try a family fun track meet and set up an obstacle course at home!

Here are some ideas to get you started: https://imaginationsoup.net/a-backyard-obstacle-course-for-your-kids/

Maybe invite over some friends, another family, or take to the park for more competition and fun!

Have a great week!
