Hello Families,

Welcome back from the long weekend! I hope you had a great time with family and some time outdoors.

See below for this week’s update.

Have a great week!

Last week’s highlights include:

  • Arche Brasil – We had a wonderful performance by Arche Brasil. It was full of vibrant colour and music! Aché Brasil represents the culture, the traditions, the beliefs, the music and the movement of the people of Brazil. It is a high energy performance group and kept all our students spell bound as they experienced the diversity of Brazil’s cultural diversity.

  • Swimming  – Our swimming blocks started last week! Please make note of the days/times when your child will be swimming so they are prepared with the appropriate gear.
  • Pow Wow – Ms. Corner took a group of our students to the district Pow Wow in Creston. It was a great cultural opportunity full of colour, music and great learning!
  • Field Trips – We had many field trips head out. Ms. Finnie’s class went to Kaslo on the river walking trails and had a tour of the SS Moyie. Mrs. Bonikowsky’s class went to the fire hall and Mrs. BenRabha’s class went to the fire station. This is the season of field trips, so again, please make note of the days/times when your child’s class will be out in the community.
  • Come Read with Me – Our kindergarten families had a great opportunity to learn about the importance of reading with their child. Our Come Read with Me facilitator led a workshop filled with information and equipped parents with reading strategies. Then they had a chance to visit the Kindergarten classroom and enjoy the gift of reading together.
  • Cardboard Arcade – Planning is underway! Each year the intermediate classes host a Cardboard Arcade as an opportunity for students to work collaboratively, design a prototype and create a working arcade game. The games will be open to all classes on May 30. Money raised by donations will go to a charity yet to be decided. We look forward to playing these great creations!
  • Track and Field – Our intermediate students started training for track and field. They are practicing all the skills in rotations several times a week. We look forward to their great success next week at the district Track and Field meet on May 31
