Hello Families,

Welcome back to a new week. I hope you had a great weekend. Here we are, almost in February already!

It looks like it is going to be another unseasonably warm and wet week! We are going to be getting more rain, and combined with the melting snow, we will have a very sloppy and muddy playground experience.  This week, please ensure you send your child(ren) with appropriate outerwear. It would be extra helpful if they also had extra dry gloves, socks, and perhaps a change of clothes tucked in their backpacks.

Hopefully next week we will return to more winter-type weather and have some snow.

See below for this week’s update

Last week’s highlights include:

  • Gr. 4/5 volleyball tournament! Congratulations to our Gr. 4/5 students who participated in their first volleyball tournament. The teamwork, sportsmanship and game play were all outstanding.
  • Gr. 2/3 started their cross-country skiing. Great work to all our students who showed great growth mindsets as they learned something new and had a great time doing it!
  • Winter studies continued as students across grades learned about winter animals, the Inuit, and geography. All classes are working on making Inuit sunglasses!
  • With the softening snow last week, there were several opportunities for students to build snowmen and snow forts! Lots of great outdoor fun was had (until it turned to mush ?)

A few pieces of information/reminders for you:

Family learning resources:

All children are growing in their resiliency, self regulation, and social emotional skills. We work very hard at school to support them as they develop their self awareness and strategies for their mental health. Working with your child at home as they manage worry, friendships, anxiety about school, and regulation can be a challenge.

You may be interested in these at-home resources from Healthy Minds BC. There are levelled resources you can use with your child with body awareness, mindsets, feelings, relaxation skills and more.

Have a great week,
