Hello Families,

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend.

See below for this week’s update.

Last week’s highlights include:

  • Indoor Soccer – Many of our classes participated in free indoor soccer sessions hosted by the Nelson Soccer Association. Students learned drills and skills as well as played some games. Everyone had a great time and we are very grateful for the partnership!
  • Forest learning – A couple classes are learning about  natural resources and forests. The Gr. ½ classes had a guest speaker who was a forest specialist and came to talk about the  natural forests in our area. And the Gr. 4/5’s are continuing inquiry studies into how our forests are a natural resource for us.
  • Reading Link Challenge – Our Gr. 4’s and 5’s are participating in this year’s Reading Link Challenge hosted by the Nelson Public Library. Students were excited to choose their books and get started reading! They will be reading one of the three novels: Flat Stanley, Shooting the Rapids or The Ember Stone.
  • Space studies – Mrs. Bonikowsky’s class is studying space and last week learned about the International Space Station.  We learned about the International Space Station. Students also completed 4 stations to learn about the planets, sun and earth’s moon
  • Gr. 4/5 Volleyball– The Gr. 4/5 students are getting ready for the upcoming volleyball tournament this week! They have been doing extra practices and increasing their fitness skills.
