SNES News Feb. 5

Hello Families,

Happy Monday and welcome to February! I trust you had a good weekend.

It looks like we are up for another wet week! As usual, and especially again this week, please ensure you send your child(ren) with appropriate outerwear and a change of clothes.

Here’s to hoping we will see winter show up sometime soon!

See below for this week’s update.

Last week’s highlights include:

  • Whitewater skiing/snowboarding started and though a little wet, was very successful. Students and adults all had a good time! A huge thanks to so many parents who volunteered at the hill with supervision, helping with rentals, and monitoring small groups. Thanks to those families who also took gear up in their vehicles and ensured that everyone had what they needed. We couldn’t do this without all your support! Also a big thanks to Ms. Douglas for organizing and all the staff who are involved.
  • Gr. 2/3 had another day of cross-country skiing. Students are getting the hang of it!
  • Gr. K-2 classes started TaeKwonDo with Master Dean. They are so eager to participate and learn!
  • Gr. 4/5 students started their push-up challenge for mental health this week. If you haven’t done so already, you can contribute here: https://southnelson.sd8.bc.ca/announcements/grade-45-push-challenge
  • Novel studies, literature groups, math and science studies all continued in the midst of a busy week!

Creating healthy attachments is a pivotal factor in helping children overcome traumatic backgrounds and thrive in their lives. However, many of the children we support and care for have experienced hurt in their relationships, making it challenging to establish connections.

If you find yourself facing difficulties, such as your child pushing you away, struggling to accept your love, or triggering deep-seated insecurities, this webinar is tailored for you. Dr. Chuck Geddes will delve into the crucial importance of understanding attachment styles and provide practical strategies to forge new and meaningful connections with your child.

Have a great week,
