Hello Families,

Welcome back to a new week! I hope you had a good weekend.

We are in the home stretch to spring break, with only a few more weeks left! There are many things going on before the break, so make sure you keep up with the updates from your child(ren)’s teacher.

This week looks like another week of unsettled weather, so as usual, please ensure your children are dressed for the weather and have some extra clothes tucked inside their backpack.

See below for this week’s update.

Have a great week!

Last week’s highlights include:

  • Black history month activities and learning included the Gr. 4/5’s going to the Civic to watch the movie ‘Remember the Titans”. The Gr. 2/3’s also did some great writing about Viola Davis.
  • Pink Shirt day preparations – Classes have been learning about pink shirt day, bullying and how we can be kind and inclusive to others. Some classes are preparing a song for the upcoming assembly
  • Arctic environment dioramas – The Gr. 2/3’s made some really beautiful dioramas highlighting their learning about arctic environments
  • 100s Day! This was a huge milestone in the school year. Our primary wing was abuzz with activities on 100s day. They were doing lots of counting to 100!
  • Little buddies had an exciting trip to Trafalgar to see their big buddies and did some baking together.

A few pieces of information/reminders for you:

  1. Pink Shirt day – Coming up on Wednesday Feb. 28. If you are able, please have your child wear pink on this day. Please feel free to join us at our assembly at 1:30pm. We have a few classes performing songs.
  2. Student teachers – We have our student teachers returning for their long practicum this spring. If you see them around, please give them a warm welcome! Huge thanks to our sponsor teachers who are invested in mentoring these new teachers.
  3. Term 2 Learning Updates (Previously known as report cards) – These will be issued in MyEd on Friday, March 8. There have been requests for more information about the format of these updates. Please see this blog post for more information.
  4. Lost and Found – We have a LOT of items in lost and found! If you have a moment to drop by and look through, please come and take what belongs to your child(ren). We’d like to have this cleaned up by spring break, at which time we will be donating what is left.
  5. Play in the K – We have an exciting transition program coming up for our incoming K’s. Our next year’s Ks will have the opportunity to come and visit our K class a couple times before the end of the year to get used to the classroom, meet the teacher, and have a morning of play. See our calendar event for more information. Pass the word!
