Students Reduce, Reuse and Recycle for Mother's Day
Mrs. Lehnert’s 1/2 class is actively reducing, reusing, recycling, and taking care of the environment! To kick off our Earth Day celebration, we participated in a garbage pick-up at Maple Forest, marking the beginning of our unit on the 3 R’s.
We’ve been learning about recyclable materials and have been recycling paper in the classroom. We’ve also been working on reducing paper waste by using both sides of the paper. In addition, we took shredded paper and turned it into new paper. To make it extra special, we added a pollinator wildflower seed blend to the mix.
We even got creative by cutting out hearts and drawing on the paper to use in our Mother’s Day cards. Now, each family will have the opportunity to grow pollinator-friendly flowers right here in Nelson!
