Mrs. De Sousa’s grade 4,5,6 class at South Nelson are writing about The Meaning of Home. Over the past few weeks students have been brainstorming the difference between a house and home, writing poems about home using the five senses, and learning about families across Canada who have struggled to find safe and secure housing.

This creative writing activity is a way to give back to the community. In February student’s writing will be entered into the Meaning of Home contest. For every entry $10 is donated to our local Habitat for Humanity to help build safe and affordable homes for families. Grand prize winners receive a larger grant that will go directly to the community for families to access safe, decent and affordable homes.
