Fire prevention week started at South Nelson with a visit from the Nelson Fire Department. The theme of the week was “Safe Charging is a Superpower”. Fire fighters talked with students about batteries and devices that they routinely charge. Safe handling of each type of battery was discussed, and students were encouraged to charge their devices in a responsible way. A highlight was a demonstration of the fire truck in the courtyard after their presentation. We finished fire prevention week off with a very successful first school wide fire drill. South Nelson students demonstrated some great fire safety habits!
