South Nelson Students Run for Cancer

Image

South Nelson students participated in the Terry Fox Run on Friday, Sept. 13.

After learning Terry's story and having discussions in class, students headed up the hill to the Mountain Station Rail Trail. There was a set loop and everyone challenged themselves to see how far they could run. Some ran multiple loops and some only one, while some walked. They realized the importance of doing what is right for themselves and working towards a goal, pushing themselves to try a little harder - just like Terry.

Students appreciated learning about Terry's story and made many personal connections to friends and family who have faced adversity. They were able to recognize the diversity in everyone's abilities and how to build resilience and determination in the face of challenges. Great discussions were had about the diverse abilities everyone has and how each person is different. Many students were inspired by how Terry used his strengths and his convictions to overcome hard things.

Everyone had a great time and ended the race with smiles on their faces. Great running, South Nelson!
