Grade 5 Orientation – May 25th
Here’s the plan:
On May 25th, grade 5s and their families to imagine that it’s September 2023. All students are to make their way (bus, walk, ride) to Trafalgar and meet their SNE teacher at the flagpole in front of Trafalgar by 8:40 am.
Trafalgar staff will take the entire group inside and do a brief assembly in our Fine Arts Centre, then split them up for tours with our student guides. Once done the tour, staff and students will re-group in the Fine Arts Centre for some Q+A and then it is back to SNE.
Trafalgar administration is working on a bus plan and will share that shortly.
Message from the Principal
I need to share that due family health challenges, my husband and I have made the decision to return to the coast as of August 1st. The Vancouver School Board has welcomed me back as an administrator, and I will be placed back into a school there.
You need to know that this school community has made this a very hard decision.
As parents, I know you are aware of how amazing this school is, but as a principal and teacher in many schools, you also need to know that it will stand out as an example of professionalism and student care that is an example for all.
Additional information will be coming out from the district about next steps.
Reminders
We have a bulletin board that celebrates our pet family members. Please send a photo to add to our pet wall! Students should add their name to the picture and maybe tell us something about their pet!

Families are now able to apply for next year’s school bus services. Announcements are posted on the websites and social media, but we will need your help in getting the messaging out to your families. Attached is a memo for distribution.
Please Note – for bus students
- The deadline for families to apply for next year’s bus service is May 31, 2023.
- Applications received after May 31st will be considered only if space is available on routes as scheduled.
- Registrations received by the deadline are processed over the summer. Students who have registered after the deadline may experience a wait time in September before their application is processed and they able to ride.
- We design our bus routes based on the applications that we receive before the registration deadline. There will not be new stops or route extensions added after registrations received by the deadline are processed.
