2026 School Trustee Elections - Notice of Nomination
Public Notice is hereby given to the electors of School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) (SD8) that nominations for the following offices of school trustee will be received by the chief election officer or designate.

Nomination packages
Nomination packages are available:
- Online at sd8.bc.ca/elections
- At the SD8 district office, 811 Stanley Street, Nelson, B.C., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, except statutory holidays
- Until the end of the nomination period
Where to submit nomination documents for Areas 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7
Completed nomination documents for Areas 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 may be submitted:

Nomination period
The nomination period begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and ends at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Completed electronic or paper nomination documents must be submitted within the nomination period.
Where to submit nomination documents for Areas 1 and 6
The trustee elections for the following electoral areas are administered by municipalities:
- Area 1 – City of Nelson/Bealby Point (2 trustees)
- Area 6 – Town of Creston (1 trustee)
Nomination packages are available from the applicable municipal office. Completed nomination documents must also be submitted to that office within the nomination period, not to SD8.
Candidate qualifications
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected and hold office as a school trustee if they are:
- A Canadian citizen
- 18 years of age or older on October 17, 2026
- A resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before nomination
- Not otherwise disqualified by law
Campaign expense limits
- Area 1: $8,348.13
- Areas 2–7: $6,161.89
Third-party advertising limit
All trustee electoral areas: $924.28
